Welcome to my Learning Portfolio for LABU 2060!
I’m AU Kam Ho (Jason). I’m from T11 and our instructor is Mariah. This portfolio is a fun walk down memory lane, recapping and reflecting on all the amazing things we’ve learned over the past 13 weeks.
LABU2060 made my learning journey a whole lot of fun, and it was divided into two exciting phases: mock job interviews in Phase I and the thrill of business pitch and writing in Phase II. This portfolio is like a scrapbook of my growth and evolution through each phase, shining a spotlight on all the cool skills and insights I picked up and put to use along the way.
The learning journey throughout the course has been a transformative experience filled with growth and self-discovery. At the start of the semester, my SMART goals focused primarily on gaining confidence and improving my communicative and interpersonal competencies. It is because I often found myself hesitant to share my ideas and engage in team discussions due to my shyness and lack of confidence.
Phase I, with its emphasis on job seeking and mock interviews, provided me with an opportunity to apply these competencies. I learned to present myself confidently and make my experiences and skills appealing to potential employers. The practice sessions, particularly the self-introduction and Q&A with peers, were instrumental in honing these skills. By recording and reviewing my performances, I was able to identify areas for improvement and monitor my progress.
In Phase II, the focus shifted to business writing and pitching. The process writing tasks were challenging but rewarding, pushing me and my teammates to express our ideas clearly and persuasively. Through writing with guidance from GenAI, and then evaluations from peers and teacher, I was able to refine my writing and improve my ability to construct well-argued articles.
Upon completion of LABU 2060, I have a newfound appreciation for these competencies. For example, how our body language and tone of voice would affect the impression made about us and the effective way to deliver ideas. The course has not only equipped me with valuable skills for my future career but also reshaped my understanding of communication and teamwork. As I move forward, I plan to apply these competencies in all future communicative contexts, confident in the progress I have made and eager to continue learning and improving.
Here’s hoping that this little reflection can act as a roadmap for my progress, pointing the way to even more success in the world of business that’s always evolving and changing.
